Who Are We

Welcome to Thomas Boughey Kindergarten, we are a registered charity day nursery offering excellent high quality childcare and education in Stoke on Trent.

We are based in the Thomas Boughey Children’s Centre in Shelton, in the heart of the University Quarter. We have excellent transport links being situated on a major bus route, a short walk from Stoke Railway Station and close to the A500.

We are open 51 weeks per year between 7.30-6.00 Monday to Friday, we close for Bank holidays and 1 staff training day.

We operate from 3 classrooms in the children’s centre and have use of the Thomas Boughey Nursery School dining room. All the classrooms have free flow access to the stimulating and inviting outdoor area. The baby room has a separate outdoor area, while the toddler and preschool children share the large outdoor area with Thomas Boughey Nursery School, with whom we work closely.

We can offer flexible care arrangements that cater for parents individual work needs and also term time only options for parents who are in education, as we are extremely close to both Stoke on Trent College and Staffordshire University, and we are on the bus route for Keele University.

We are also a Forest School Nursery; we take a group of older children to a local woodland area which we are licenced to use on a weekly basis and introduce them to an environment that they can explore and thrive in which is based outside of the ‘usual’ classroom environment. This ethos of education has origins in Scandinavian Countries. (See more in ‘Our Environment’ section).

We welcome visitors at any time no need to book, although it can be rather busy at lunch time!

We look forward to showing you around the nursery.
